Taat Kuang Si is the highest and most famous waterfall in the vicinity of Luang Prabang. It is located 30 kilometers south of the town. Tham Ting, also known as Pak Ou Caves, are located at Pak Ou about 40 kilometers from Luang Prabang. There are countless Buddha images of different sizes inside the caves. The caves can be visited by using a speed boat, a slow boat or by a combination of bus/tuk-tuk and ferry boat across the Mekong. Wat Xieng Thong is the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang. It was built in 1560 and perfectly displays Lao architecture. Wat Xieng Thong houses the royal urns used during the royal funeral ceremony. Phra Thaat Phou Si (Phou Si Temple) is situated on top of Phou Si mountain in the center of Luang Prabang. Climbing up the 328 stairs and enjoying the views of the city and the most beautiful sunset are a must.
